7 Symptoms That Show You Might Have An Infection

Vaginal infections can be caused by several things like an overgrowth of bacteria, irritation to things like soap, perfumes, feminine hygiene products, and many more. Sometimes, vaginal infections might not be easily detected by a woman and could cause serious health issues.

So, depending on the type of infection, here are some symptoms to look out for:

  1. Abnormal Discharge: when your vaginal discharge has a different color e.g. thick white, thin green, or yellow, and it is accompanied by a strong smell, it is probably a sign that you have an infection. If the discharge comes in an abnormal volume, that is also a sign of vaginal infections.
  2. Sudden period irregularity: Vaginal infections can cause your period to become irregular. Although sometimes period irregularities might mean other things.
  3. Itchiness and Soreness: when you experience discomforts such as itching, soreness, and irritation in the vagina and vulva, you might have a vaginal infection.
  4. Burning Sensation: Pain or a burning sensation while having sex or urinating is also a system of vaginal infection.
  5. Bleeding: When you bleed between your periods or after you have sex that might be a sign of vagina infection.
  6. Pain in Lower Abdomen: Pain in the lower abdomen means a lot of things but when you experience it alongside all these other symptoms, you might have an infection.
  7. Warts and Ulcers: Pimple-like or boil-like bumps around the vulva might be a sign of vaginal infection
